General procedure for the preparation of compound 1

General procedure: Propargyl bromide (1.2 mmol for the preparation of 1a, 1c, 1d, 1e and 2.0 mmol for the preparation of 1b) was added to a solution of alkyl/aryl amine (1.0 mmol) and potassium carbonate (3.0 mmol) in DMF (25 mL) under a nitrogen atmosphere. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 5 h. After completion (confirmed by TLC), the mixture was diluted with ice-water (60 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (3 x 15 mL). The organic layers were collected, combined, dried over anhydrous Na₂SO₄, filtered and concentrated under low vacuum. The residue was purified by column chromatography using hexane and EtOAc as eluent to afford the title compound.
