Under nitrogen, o-chloroaniline (1 g, 1 equiv), o-chlorobenzaldehyde (1.55 g, 1.4 equiv), palladium acetate (44 mg, 2.5% equiv), cesium carbonate (5.11 g, 2 equiv) and Xantphos (227 mg, 5% equiv.) were added to 23 mL of dioxane, heated to 90°C in an oil bath and stirred overnight. After cooling, the reaction solution was filtered with celite, washed with ethyl acetate, the filtrate was concentrated, and the crude product was separated by column chromatography to obtain 725 mg of yellow liquid product.
