4.2.1. 2-Acetylphenyl acetate (3).
4.2.1. 2-Acetylphenyl acetate (3). 1-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)ethan-1-one(20 mL, 166 mmol) and pyridine (26.8 mL, 332 mmol) were dissolved in 80 mL DCM, and AcCl (14.1 mL, 199 mmol) was addeddropwise into the flask. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 h. Then it was extracted with EtOAc and the organiclayer was washed with 40 mL 6N HCl (aq) followed by brine.The solution was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude product was crystallized in petroleumetherdEtOAc (5:1) to give 28.5 g title compound as a pale yellowsolid (96% yield).
