313.A A) 2-chloro-6-methoxynicotinonitrile
To a solution of 2,6-dichloronicotinonitrile (2.50 g) in MeOH (65 mL) was added slowly a solution of NaOMe (781 mg) in MeOH (15 mL).
The mixture was stirred at 15° C. for 16 hr.
The mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure.
The residue was diluted with EtOAc, washed with water and brine, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure.
The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (EtOAc/PE) to give the titled compound (675 mg).
1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.79 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 6.76 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 1H), 4.01 (s, 3H); MS m/z 169.1 [M+H]+.
