Reaction Conditions:

with palladium 10% on activated carbon;hydrogen in methanolInert atmosphere;

Steps:

1 tert-Butyl 4-(3-aminophenyl)piperazine-l-carboxylate (15d)
To a solution of 15d^* (700 mg, 2.27 mmol) in CH3OH (15 mL) was added 10% Pd/C (200 mg) in excess and (g) was passed through latex valve bladder for overnight. The reaction mixture was then filtered through celite and concentrated to afford 15d (600 mg, 95%) as brown viscous liquid which was used in next step without purification.
