Step 4 Scheme 40:c dTo a solution of c ( 1.16 g , 5.68mmol ) and K2CO3 ( 2.3 g , 17mmol ) in 35 mL of DMF was added one-portion CH3I ( 2.0 g , 14 mmol ) under a nitrogen atmosphere at 0°C with stirring. The resulting solution was heated at 50 °C for lh, cooled to room temperature, diluted with 100 mL of water and extracted with DCM ( 3 x 70 mL ). The organic phase was dried ( Na2S04 ) , filtered and concentrated to give a residue, which was purified by column chromatography over silica gel (50:1 , petroleum ether/ EtOAc ) to afford d ( l .lg, 89% ) as a yellow liquid.
