2.6 Synthesis of benzimidazole
General procedure: A mixture of benzaldehyde (2mmol) and O-phenylene diamine (1mmol) in 3ml ethanol and 0.003g of cobalt (II) salen ComplexKCC-1 was placed in a 25ml magnetic stirrer. The resulting mixture was then heated in an oil bath at 80°C for 5min and then separated by the same procedure as described in the previous section. Finally, a solid product was obtained at a 98% yield.
