Steps:
I. General Procedure A: Synthesis of various oxazole substrates (GP-A)
General procedure: The oxazoles were synthesized using a modified method from literature. [1] To an oven-dried one neck round bottom flask was added, 4-bromophenacyl bromide (100 mol%) and different amides (150 mol%). The reaction mixture was placed in a preheated oil bath for 12 hours at 120 C under neat reaction conditions. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was poured onto the ice-water mixture and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with dil. NaOH, dil. HCl and brine. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and was concentrated under vacuum to obtain the crude product. The oxazole substrates 1a-d was purified by flash column chromatography (n-hexane: ethyl acetate 9.5: 0.5).
