To a solution of methyl 4,6-dichloropyridazine-3-carboxylate (5.5 g, 26.6 mmol) in THF (60 mL), at 0° C. was added 1M solution of lithium hydroxide (39.9 mL, 39.9 mmol) with stirring.
The resultant mixture was stirred continuously at 0° C. for 40 min.
The THF was removed and the aqueous layer was acidified with 1.5N HCl to give a white solid.
The mixture was filtered and the solid filter cake was washed with water and dried under vacuum overnight to give 4,6-dichloropyridazine-3-carboxylic acid (5 g, 25.9 mmol, 98% yield).
MS (M+1) m/z: 193 (MH+). LC retention time 0.19 min [D].
