A mixture of(4-(benzyloxy)pyridin-2-yl)methanol (0.50 g, 2.32 mmol), dess-martin periodinane (1.25g, 2.9Smmol) in DCM (20 mL) was stirred for 1.5 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with sat.aq.NaHSO3, sat.aq.NaHCO3 and DCM (50 mL). The aqueous layer was separatedand extracted with DCM (50 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrousNa2SO4, filtrated and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica chromatography to give 4-(benzyloxy)picolinaldehyde (0.40 g). MS: m/z 214 (M+H).
