Steps:

General procedure for the synthesis of isoxazoles (14) in the presence of HCl

General procedure: To a stirred solution of the corresponding conjugate addition product 11 (0.25mmol) in dichloromethane (10mL) was added two or three drops of concentrated HCl and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for approximately 1h (The progress of the reaction was monitored by routine TLC for the disappearance of conjugate addition product). After the reaction was over, water (25mL) was added and the aqueous layer was extracted with dichloromethane (3×50mL). The combined organic layers were dried over MgSO4 and evaporated on a rotary evaporator to give the crude product, which was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel using hexane/ ethyl acetate (9:1) as the eluent to afford the corresponding isoxazole 14.
