9.2 Synthetic Step 2: Epoxide Opening
General procedure: In a dry round bottom flask, the white solid from step 1 (100 mg, 0.344 mmol) was dissolved into ethanol (4 mL) and an amine (2 equiv., 0.68 mmol) was added to the mixture. The reaction was refluxed overnight under argon using an oil bath at 78° C. After cooling to room temperature, the ethanol was evaporated. The mixture was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel with 5-20% methanol/dichloromethane to provide a DCAP analog.
