under a nitrogen atmosphere, 2-methoxy-6-propyl-naphthalene (74.2g) in dichloromethane (550mL) in 1mol / L boron tribromide dichloromethane solution (550mL) was added dropwise at 0°C , in 2 hours, and the mixture was stirred for 4 hours at room temperature. The reaction mixture was added to ice water, after separation of the aqueous layer was extracted twice with dichloromethane, The combined organic layers were washed with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate.. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give 6-propyl-naphthalene-2-ol(55.1g).
