(2S,5S)-5-hydroxypiperidine-2-carboxylic acid (20.40g, 141mmol) was dissolved in MeOH (200mL), SOCl2 (18mL, 248mmol) was slowly added dropwise in an ice bath, and stirred at room temperature for 22h. Concentration under reduced pressure gave a white solid (21 g, 94.1%).
