Compound (I'-106): A mixture of 14.3 g (0.07148 mole) of 4-methoxymethoxynitrobenzene, 0.14 g of platinum (IV) oxide and 70 ml of methanol was stirred at room temperature for 20 hours under hydrogen atmosphere. The reaction solution was filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated to give 9.05 g (82%) of 4-methoxymethoxyaniline as a red brown liquid. 1H-NMR(CDCl3): δ(ppm) 3.46 (2H, brs), 3.47 (3H, s), 5.08 (2H, s), 6.63 (2H, d, J=9Hz), 6.87 (2H, d, J=9Hz).
