BORANE-DIISOPROPYLAMINE synthesis

12synthesis methods
-

Yield: 90%

Reaction Conditions:

with sulfuric acid in tetrahydrofuran at 0 - 20; for 3.75 h;

Steps:

4.3. Preparation of amineeborane complex
To a stirred solution of diisopropylamine (70.6 mL, 0.5 mol) and NaBH4 (30 g, 0.79 mol) in THF (500 mL) was added sulfuric acid (21.5 ml, 0.6 mol) at 0 C over a period of 45 min. The mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for 3 h. The crude was concentrated under vacuum and the residue was taken with CH2Cl2, and then filtered to eliminate all solid residues. The filtrate was washed with water (4100 mL). The organic phase was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the amine-borane complex as colorless oil, which solidified upon cooling (51.8 g, 90%).
