Bromothymol Blue is a pH indicator used for the determination of weak acids and bases. It is yellow when it is acidic and blue when it is alkaline. Under stirring, bromine is added into the glacial acetic acid suspension of thymol blue, and the reaction is carried out at 50 °C to obtain bromothymol blue.
