EXAMPLE 15Preparation of α,α'-iminobismethylene]bis[6-fluoro-3,4-dihydro-2H-1-benzopyran-2-methanol] hydrochloride (Formula II')A round bottom flask is charged with α,α'-[iminobis(methylene)bis[6-fluoro-3,4-dihydro-2H-1-benzopyran-2-methanol] (15 g, obtained in Example 14) and methanol (150 mL). To this mixture, aq. HCl (8 g, 0.219 moles) is slowly added at room temperature and the mixture is stirred for thick solid formation at 25-35° C. The solid is filtered, washed with methanol (30 mL), and dried under vacuum at 50° C., to afford the title compound in 20.2% yield.
