| 3-Butoxyphenol Usage And Synthesis |
Uses | 3-Butoxyphenol is an inhibitor of oral bacteria. Antibacterial agent. | Application | 3-Butoxyphenol is used in organic synthesis. It is used to synthesize 3BOP-daC12 Benzoxazine and 2-butoxy-6-benzyloxybenzaldehyde. | Synthesis | 1)Stir a solution of 1,5-dihydroxybenzene (5 mmol ) and cerium trifluoromethanesulfonate (0.1 mmol ) in 1-butanol (10 mmol, 5.4 mL) at 130 °C for 5 days in round bottom flask. 2)Quench the mixture with water (20 mL). 3)Extract the reaction mixture three times with dichloromethane (3 x10 mL). 4)Wash the combined organic layers with brine (15 mL). 5)Dry the combined organic layers over MgSO4. 6)Concentrate the combined organic layers. 7)Purify the crude product by column chromatography (Cyclohexane-ethyl acetate 99/1) to obtain 3-butoxyphenol.
