What is Tetrahydropalmatine?

Tetrahydropalmatine can be prepared from the total bases of tetrahydroxy berberine. Tetrahydropalmatine can be used to prepare palmatine. Preparation

Weigh 1.0g of total alkali of tetrahydroxy berberine and heat and dissolve it with 30mL of 80% ethanol aqueous solution, add 3.0g of catalyst anhydrous potassium carbonate, reflux at 80℃, mass ratio of catalyst anhydrous potassium carbonate to total alkali of tetrahydroxy berberine Then, add the same amount of sodium borohydride three times every 10 minutes, totaling 0.80g, and the mass ratio of the total amount of sodium borohydride to the total alkali of tetrahydroxy berberine is 0.80:1. Weigh 1.0g of tetrahydrotetrahydroxy berberine total alkali and dissolve it with 20 mL of formaldehyde solution, and add 0.3 mL of methyl iodide to the system at a rate of 0.17 ml/min for reaction. The molar ratio is 1.5:1; after reacting at room temperature for half an hour, the temperature is increased to 80°C and the reaction is refluxed for 5 hours; then the system is cooled to room temperature, suction filtered, the filtrate is spin-dried under reduced pressure, and recrystallized with ether to obtain a green solid tetrahydro Palmatine 0.25g, the yield was 27%.
