[Uses] Diethyl (Ethoxycarbonyl)phosphonate is an impurity in the synthesis of Foscarnet (F727400), an inhibitor of viral DNA polymerase and reverse transcriptase. Foscarnet is used as an antiviral.
[General Description] for synthesis
[Purification Methods] Dissolve it in Et2O, shake this with H2O (to remove any trace of NaCl impurity), dry (Na2SO4), evaporate and distil it using an efficient fractionating column.
