solution of 1-(2,6-dichloro-3-fluorophenyl)ethanol (1 mmol), zinc bromide (45 mg, 0.2 mmol), and chloramine (282 mg, 1 mmol) in acetonitrile was placed in a three-necked flask equipped with a reflux condenser. The mixture was stirred under reflux for 5 hours and then cooled to room temperature. The reaction mixture was first slowly quenched with water, and then extracted three times with ethyl acetate. The extracted organic solvents were combined, and the resulting organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The sodium sulfate solid was removed by filtration, and the solvent was removed from the filtrate by vacuum evaporation to obtain the crude product. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to obtain the target product, 2,6-dichloro-3-fluoroacetophenone. Figure 2. Synthetic route of 6-dichloro-3-fluoroacetophenone. |
