Dimethyl sebacate and 1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinol are added to a reaction vessel at a molar ratio of 1:1.79. Tetraisopropyl titanate is added as a catalyst at a mass fraction of 0.31% of the total reactants. The reaction mixture is heated to 180°C with continuous stirring. The reaction temperature is maintained at 180°C for 6 hours. During this period, methanol, a byproduct, is generated and needs to be removed from the reaction mixture by vacuum distillation or other methods to drive the reaction toward the product. After 6 hours, the reaction mixture is cooled to room temperature. The product is a mixture of monoesters and diesters. Further purification can be achieved using techniques such as column chromatography or vacuum distillation.
