The specific operation involves adding a reducing agent (e.g., iron powder or hydrogen/Pd-C) in a suitable solvent and reacting under heating conditions until the reaction is complete. Upon completion of the reaction, the insoluble material is removed by filtration (e.g., reduction with iron powder) or the solvent is removed by distillation (e.g., reduction with hydrogen/Pd-C) to give the crude product.
