YH239-EE通过抑制p53-MDM2相互作用抑制OCI-AML-3细胞和野生型p53的生长。在4种AML细胞(p53野生型OCI-AML-3 和 MOLM-13，p53 突变型NB4，和p53 缺失的HL60 )中， YH239-EE通过活化p53和下游靶点，诱导细胞周期阻滞，并引起有效的细胞凋亡。
