| Chemical Properties | Off-White to Beige Solid | | Uses | 2-Amino-4-bromopyridine is a biochemical reagent that can be used as a biological material or organic compound for life science related research. | | Synthesis | General procedure for the synthesis of 2-amino-4-bromopyridine from 2-Boc amine-4-bromopyridine: 2-Boc amine-4-bromopyridine (200 mg, 0.73 mmol) was suspended in water (1 mL) and hydrobromic acid (1 mL, 48 wt% aqueous solution) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 h before being poured into aqueous sodium bicarbonate (25 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (3 x 25 mL). The organic phases were combined, dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude product was purified by column chromatography (pure ethyl acetate as eluent) to give 2-amino-4-bromopyridine. Yield: 73 mg (58%).
