Telmisartan

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor used to treat hypertension. Most blood pressure lowering drugs currently have a maximum effect of 10 hours. Telmisartan is the most powerful drug of its kind. Clinical studies have shown that Telmisartan can reduce blood pressure 24 hours a day, including early morning, when cardiovascular disease is at its highest risk. Telmisartan (Telmisartan) is also currently the only one kind of angiotensin receptor blockers, confirmed by clinical research in addition to high blood pressure in patients with cardiovascular risk and diabetes patients, can provide additional cardiovascular protection, reduce their death due to cardiovascular disease, myocardial infarction, or stroke.

Telmisartan is indicated in the treatment of essential hypertension.Telmisartan is contraindicated during pregnancy. Like other drugs affecting the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), telmisartan can cause birth defects, stillbirths, and neonatal deaths. It is not known whether the drug passes into the breast milk. Also it is contraindicated in bilateral renal artery stenosis in which it can cause renal failure.
