5.2 Step 2: Synthesis of 1-bromo-2-methoxy-4,5-xylene
2-Bromo-4,5-dimethylphenol (7.20 g, 35.8 mmol, 1.0 eq) was dissolved in DMF (80 mL), then KCO(9.90 g, 71.6 mmol, 2.0 eq) and CHI were added(7.62g, 53.7mmol, 1.5eq), stirred at room temperature for 3 hours.Add water to quench, extract with EA (50mL), dry the organic phase over anhydrous sodiumsulfate, filter, concentrate the filtrate under reduced pressure, and purify the crude product by silica gel column chromatography (PE:EA=50:120:1) to obtainthe product ( 7.10 g, yield: 92.2%).
