To a stirred suspension of 4 (3.00 g, 17.5 mmol, 1.0 equiv) in Et2O (160mL) was added dropwise (TFA)2O (2.68 mL, 19.3 mmol, 1.1 equiv) at 0°C. After stirring for 1 h at 0 °C, the reaction mixture was evaporatedto dryness and the oily residue was dissolved in cyclohexane. The solventwas removed under reduced pressure to afford 5 as a white powder;yield: 4.68 g (quant.); mp 155-157 °C.IR (KBr): 3307, 3500-3000, 3078, 1701, 1548, 1437, 1234, 1201, 1176,705 cm-1.1H NMR (CD3OD, 400 MHz): = 7.34 (dd, J = 5.1, 1.2 Hz, 1 H), 7.06 (dt,J = 3.5, 1.2 Hz, 1 H), 6.97 (dd, J = 5.1, 3.5 Hz, 1 H), 5.70-5.64 (m, 1 H),3.06-2.98 (m, 2 H).13C NMR (CD3OD, 101 MHz): = 173.2, 158.1 (q, J = 37.4 Hz), 144.4,127.8, 126.1, 126.0, 116. (q, J = 286.7 Hz), 47.5, 40.7.19F NMR (CD3OD, 376 MHz): = -77.35.
