Reaction Conditions:

with copper(II) catalyst immobilized on poly[3-(carboxypropy)thiophene-2,5-diyl] in tetrahydrofuran at 0 - 20;Inert atmosphere;Kumada Cross-Coupling;

Steps:

2.4 Typical Procedure for the Coupling Reaction of Grignard Reagent with Acid Chloride Using Cu(at)PCPT

General procedure: In a round-bottomed flask, Cu(at)PCPT (40mg) was placed then purged with Ar gas. Next, organomagnesium reagent(4.5mmol) and 5mL of THF was added into the flask. The reaction fask was cooled down to 0°C with an ice-bath. Withbeing stirred at 0°C under Ar gas pressure, acid chloride(3.0mmol) was added neat into the mixture via a syringe.The resulting mixture was gradually allowed to warm up toroom temperature over 2.0h. After a suitable work up andpurifcation using fash column chromatrography (2% ethylacetate/98% hexanes), the desired product was isolated. Characterizationdata (1H and 13C NMR spectra) of the ketones areprovided in SI.
