Steps:

General procedure for synthesis of 2-(5,7-dimethyl-[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-2-ylthio)acetohydrazide (6)

(2) NaOH (225g, 5.62mol) was dissolved in water (960mL). 2 was then added and the solution was refluxed for 3h. After cooling, the pH value of the solution was adjusted to 1 using hydrochloric acid. After that the solid was precipitated and recrystallization from methanol gave 3 as colorless crystals.
