The obtained yellow greasy 2-methylsulfonyl- ethyl disulfide (2.8 g, 10 mmol) is added to dimethylamine solution in THF (25 ml, 1M) and allowed to react at the room temperature for 8 hours. Then the product is concentrated under vacuum. NaOH solution (200 ml, 2M) is added and the product is twice extracted with dichloromethane (2x200 ml). Subsequently sodium sulfate is used to dry the organic layer, and then the product is filtered and concentrated to obtain black greasy N,N-dimethyl-ethyl disulfide. Here, the yield is 90%.
