Steps:
1 The preparation of compound (2)
Compound (1) (8.30g, 0.074mol), diethyl oxalate (10.80g, 0.074mol) and sodium ethoxide (2.52g, 0.037mol) were dissolved in 40mL of absolute ethanol and reacted at -5°C to 10°C. The mixture was stirred at room temperature (25°C) for 5 h. After 5h, the mixture was acidified and filtered to remove the filter cake. The filtrate was extracted with dichloromethane, dried, concentrated in vacuo, and purified by column chromatography to obtain an orange-red viscous liquid compound (2) (6.81 g; 50%).
