2.2.1. General procedure for the synthesis of 2-substituted benzimidazoles[47]
General procedure: A mixture of aldehyde (10.00 mmol) and NaHSO3 (11.0 equiv.,11.45 g) in H2O (30 mL) was heated to refilux. A solution of an o-phenylenediaminederivative (10.00 mmol) in H2O (10 mL) was addeddropwise to the solution and the reaction was further refluxed. Uponcompletion, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature andthe precipitate was collected by vacuum filtration. The residue waswashed with H2O and dried under vacuum.
