Steps:
Reagents and conditions: (a) NaBH(OAc)3, AcOH, aniline, DCE, overnight, rt, (yield 84%); (b) TFA, DCM, lh, rt, quant; (c) toluene, 2h, rt, (general yields 5- 23%). In Scheme 8, the reductive amination of aniline with 1 -boc-4-piperidone followed by deprotection in acidic condition afforded compound 6 which was reacted with appropriate isocyanates or isothiocyanates to produce the 4- anilinopiperidine series 7a-g.
