General procedure for the synthesis of 2-methyl-4-amino-6-chloropyrimidine from 4,6-dichloro-2-methylpyrimidine: 4,6-dichloro-2-methylpyrimidine (50 g, 0.31 mol) and a methanol solution of ammonia (0.5 L) were added to a 1 L triple-necked flask, and the reaction was stirred for 5 h at 50 °C. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was cooled to 0 °C. Subsequently, filtration was carried out at room temperature and the filter cake was washed with petroleum ether (100 ml). Finally, the product was dried under reduced pressure to afford 2-methyl-4-amino-6-chloropyrimidine (40.9 g, yield: 92%) as a white solid. | [References]
