Enoxastrobin was manufactured through a sequence typical of beta methoxyacrylate chemistry. Production generally began with construction of the substituted aromatic ether fragment, followed by preparation of the methoxyacrylate side chain via esterification of a cyanohydrin derived intermediate. These two components were then coupled under controlled, anhydrous conditions, often using activated carbonate or halide intermediates, to form the characteristic strobilurin ester linkage. Purification relied on solvent washing and crystallisation to obtain technical grade enoxastrobin suitable for formulation. | [Mechanism of action]
