Uses
Cyclopropyl methyl ketone was used in the preparation of homoallylic alcohols. Acetylcyclopropane is used as an intermediate for the manufacturing pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and other organic compounds.
Synthesis
There are two synthetic processes for cyclopropylmethyl ketone, one of which is: γ-butyrolactone is the more common raw material, and is produced by acetylation, hydrolysis, decarboxylation, chlorination, cyclization, and fine evaporation.
