Appetite suppressants and other diet pills

Appetite suppressants are drugs that selectively suppress appetite, which are mainly used for obesity to lose weight and known as anti-obesity agent or weight loss agent. The treatment of obesity is often based on a low-calorie diet and enhancing physical activity. Drugs are only used as a supplementary measure.

Most appetite suppressants are adrenergic drugs, which mainly work on the hypothalamic feeding center to make anorexia. Most drugs can cause high blood pressure and palpitations, so the elderly or patients with cardiovascular disease should not take these drugs. They can also excite the central nervous system to cause symptoms such as insomnia and anxiety, so often used with sedatives or stabilizer. Long-term application can lead to tolerance and dependence, so it should be used for short-term application.
