What does copper do for your body?

Mar 20,2026

Copper is an important trace mineral. It helps promote iron absorption and the production of red blood cells, contributes to maintaining the health of bones, blood vessels, nerves and the immune system, participates in energy generation and antioxidant processes, and helps in the synthesis of collagen and tissue repair.

The main foods rich in copper include: animal liver, shellfish, nuts, seeds, beans, whole grains, cocoa and dark chocolate, mushrooms and other fungi. Eating these in moderation on a daily basis can meet the body's copper requirements.
