4.5 General procedure for catalytic isomerization of allylic alcohols

General procedure: Under an inert atmosphere, the catalyst precursor (0.01 mmol) and Na-formate (0.5 mmol) were dissolved in 3 mL of deoxygenated water. The solution was then heated to the indicated temperature and then allylic alcohol (0.5 mmol, in 1 mL of toluene) was introduced. The system was rapidly stirred for 1 h and then was cooled to room temperature. The separated organic phase was filtered through a short silica gel column and was subjected to gas chromatography.
