Steps:

Put 8g (53mmol) of 2-amino-3-methylbenzoic acid in the flask, add 40g of dichloroethane, turn on the stirring, heat up to 50°C and then slowly pass in 4.5g (63.4mmol) of chlorine for reaction for 3h.After the reaction, it was lowered to room temperature and filtered to obtain 9.6 g of 2-amino-5-chloro-3-methylbenzoic acid (3), with a yield of 98.1%
