Reaction Conditions:
Stage #1:9-(3-bromophenyl)carbazole with n-butyllithium in tetrahydrofuran at -78; for 1 h;
Stage #2:Trimethyl borate in tetrahydrofuran at 20;

(2) 9-(3-bromophenyl)-9H-carbazole 4.00g of THF was added 50mL of dry, cooling to -78 deg.] C, n-butyllithium was slowly added 6mL (the 2.4M), for 1 hour, followed by after adding 1.8ml of trimethyl borate, the reaction was continued for 2 hours. after the reaction warmed to room temperature overnight, cooled to 0 deg.] C, was added HCl (2.0 M) 40mL hydrolysis, and extracted with methylene chloride, the solvent was evaporated, to give 2.96g (3-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenyl)boronic acid in 83% yield.
