Anisole synthesis

14synthesis methods
Anisole is synthesized by reacting phenol and dimethyl sulfate in the presence of aqueous NaOH; by passing methyl chloride into a suspension of sodium phenolate in liquid ammonia.

with 15% KCl supported on CaO at 200; for 10 h;Autoclave;Reagent/catalyst;

Steps:

Methylation Reaction of Phenol with DMC

General procedure: The methylation reaction of phenol with DMC wascarried out in a stainless steel reactor. Phenol, DMCand the catalyst were added into the autoclave (100 mL)in proportion and heated to the settled reaction temperature.After obtaining homogeneous mixture undermagnetic stirring for the desired time, the catalystswere separated by centrifugation and the supernatantwas collected for analysis by gas chromatography. Theyield of anisole was quantitatively determined withacetophenone as internal standard. The products werequantitatively analyzed by gas chromatograph Agilent6890 (Agilent, USA) equipped with a PONA capillarycolumn (50 m × 0.2 mm × 0.5 μm) and a flame ionizationdetector (FID). The conversion and selectivitywere calculated based on the phenol [17].
