Yield:7699-00-5 58%

Reaction Conditions:

with sulfuryl dichloride at -40 - 20; for 48 h;

Steps:

A5.B

Step B: f?)-ethy. 2-hydroxypropanoateTo a solution of (f?)-2-acetoxypropanoic acid (30g, 0.23 mol) in EtOH (500 ml) was added sulfuryl dicbioride (54 g, 0.45mol) dropwise below -40 °C. The mixture was stirred for 48 hours at room temperature. The ethanol was removed under reduced pressure to afford sulfuryl dichloride, which was purified by silica gel chromatography (15 g, 58%). H NMR (400MHz, CDCi3) δ ppm, 4.22-4.27 (m, 3H), 2.87-2.87 (q, 1 H), 1.41 -1 .43 (d, 3H, J = 7.6 Hz), 1.30-1.32 (m, 3H).
