ChEBI: 2-aminobenzenesulfonamide is a sulfonamide and a member of benzenes. | [Synthesis]
General procedure for the synthesis of o-aminobenzenesulfonamide from 2-nitrobenzenesulfonamide: 2-nitrobenzenesulfonamide (80.0 g, 0.58 mol) was dissolved in methanol in the presence of a Pd/C catalyst (10.0 g, 13% w/w) to prepare a solution with a mass concentration of 10%. The hydrogenation reaction was carried out at 50 psi hydrogen pressure and 60°C and the reaction was continued overnight. Upon completion of the reaction, the catalyst was removed by filtration and the filtrate was concentrated to give 60 g of off-white solid o-aminobenzenesulfonamide in 95% yield. | [IC 50]
CA Ⅸ | [Solubility in organics]
2-Aminobenzenesulfonamide is freely soluble in water, glacial acetic acid, ethyl alcohol, acetone, and methanol; insoluble in benzene.
