Trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (1.33 g, 8.84 mmol) was added dropwise to a clear green solution of Ni(OAc)₂ (0.519 g, 2.95 mmol) in MeCN (40 mL), and the color turned blue. The mixture was evaporated under reduced pressure to 10 mL, and diethyl ether (80 mL) was added, which resulted in a blue powder precipitate. The suspension was decanted, the remaining powder was washed with diethyl ether and hexane, and dried under vacuum at 70 °C to obtain nickel(II) trifluoromethanesulfonate, 72% (0.754 g), a light green powder with a changed color. |
