Lithium tetrahydroaluminum (0.06 mol) was added to ice-bath cooled anhydrous tetrahydrofuran (80 mL) under nitrogen protection, followed by the slow addition of crushed 4-piperidineacetic acid (4.95 g, 0.03 mol), and the temperature of the reaction was controlled to be no more than 30 °C. The reaction mixture was stirred at 25 °C overnight. Upon completion of the reaction, the system was cooled to 0 °C and water (3 mL), 30% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (3 mL), and water (3 mL) were added sequentially and slowly dropwise. The resulting mixture was continued to be stirred at 25 °C for 30 min. Finally, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure to give 2.23 g of light yellow solid product in 62.5% yield. | [References]
