Isoamyl nitrite (isopentyl nitrite) is
an alkyl nitrite ester that has several uses in medicine and chemical
synthesis. The term "amyl nitrite" is also used to denote a mixture of
mostly isoamyl nitrite with other C5 nitrites. Amyl nitrite is commonly used to refer to the mixture.
