Synthesis of Table 1 Molecule Number 29, 30 & 39 _:To a solution of iso- vanillin (1 eq.) in MEK (0.5 M) was added n-Prl (1.1 eq.), potassium carbonate (3 eq.) and potassium iodide (1 %). The resulting mixture was heated to reflux temperature and stirred overnight. The reaction was concentrated under reduced pressure, quenched by addition of a saturated NH4C1 aqueous solution and extracted with Et20. The combined organic layers were dried over MgS04and concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting oil was purified using a quick filtration over silica by elution with a petroleum ether- Et20 mixture (9-1). Concentration of the eluent under reduced pressure resulted in the compound as a colorless oil (99% yield).
